The movie has a higher pace than it's predecessor and it's good to have some kind of foe this time rather than some ominous space cloud which turns out to be something we made centuries ago. It's too bad the two never meet face to face. That's the problem with this movie. It could have been a tense battle between them but all they do is stand on the bridge of their space ship and yell orders around. Now a space ship battle can be tense, just look at the battles in Star Wars IV: A New Hope. But once again they are rather dull here. It's not all bad though. Exchanges between Kirk, Spock and McCoy are still fun. I loved little things like Kirks midlife crisis. Kirstie Alley also pops up in her first motion picture. The script was far from bad and quite intriguing actually with the whole Project Genesis thing going on. If only they had put a little more and better action in the movie. Than it could've been truly great. Now it's an average sci-fi picture.
