A viewing of this movie to my girlfriend last weeek showed me how biased in a negative way people can be about this movie. Having heard how supposedly bad this movie was here and there she wasn't really warming up to the idea of potentially throwing away more than two hours of her life by watching an atrocious film. Big was her surprise, and mine in a way, when she responded after watching the movie "well that wasn't that bad" which is basically what is the problem with this movie: it has been given such a negative press and word of mouth that is actually turns out better than most people expect it to be up front.

In some countries this movie has been retitled to "Y.P.F.", a not so very surprising change seeing as there are still people here and there who take offense in the F-word. I have no problem with it so I'm just naming it by its original title: "Young People Fucking" It won't hurt the traffic to my site, on the contrary, you should see which keywords people have searched on with Google before coming on my site. 9 out of 10 they are here looking for pussy. There is a reason why The babysitters is positioned high in the most read articles listing. This review will probably end up there because it's a movie about, well, young people fucking actually.

Remember the amateur vigilantes from the beginning of The Dark Knight? Those hapless guys, without a budget who put on some football pads and consider themselves bulletproof? Defendor basically takes one of them and puts him at the center of this movie which is starring Woody Harrelson as Defendor, yes with an "o" and he does get upset when you say it wrong, and is presented by the trailer as a spoof of superhero movies which ultimately is not the case. I'm sure that this will generate a sense of disappointment with people as they would expect a movie like "Superhero Movie" and actually get a comedy mixed with drama. Well at least Defendor has a heart instead of fart jokes.

The surprise of 2008 was Iron Man, probably a bigger surprise than how good The Dark Knight turned out to be. Iron Man was a movie that was not seen as a potential blockbuster movie until the first trailer hit the net after which the buzz began to come. But even some of the shittiest movies have really great trailers and so everyone was eager to see if Iron Man could live up to its potential. From a movie about a little known superhero that nobody think will be a great success to one of the most anticipated movies of 2008 all due to one trailer. That is a nice feat. And luckily Iron Man lived up to the expectations set by the trailer and its sequel has become one of the most anticipated movies of 2010. And this time all it took was an announcement that it was in production.

Alice In Wonderland is currently next to being a kids movie also known as a drug movie. Not only does the name Alice seems to refer to LSD, which was unintentional as LSD did not exist at the time the novel was written, but also does the contents of the movie seem to be segments from a trip. Other movies who share this connection are Yellow Submarine, parts of Willie Wonka and The Chocolate Factory and Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. I'm sure there are a few missing but when familiar with these movies you get the point on the contents of Alice In Wonderland. A movie filled with one crazy trip after another, some of them even representing a bad trip.
